What is the Dolomites Last Loop?
In the “Dolomites Last Loop” Backyard Ultra format, all participants repeatedly run the same set loop, which is typically 6.706 kilometers (4.167 miles) long—designed so that 24 laps equal 100 miles. Each lap begins exactly on the hour (for example, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00). Runners must complete their lap within the hour and return to the starting area in time to start the next lap. Anyone who doesn’t make it back in time is eliminated.
The race continues in this way until only one runner remains. That runner must then complete a final lap alone; if they finish within the hour, they win the race. There’s no set total distance or duration—the event ends when only one participant is left or if it is stopped for organizational reasons.
Regulate:
-
Start time: All runners start together every hour on the hour.
-
Time limit: You must complete the round before the next start.
-
Support/Catering: There is a central zone where you can find food, tent, sleeping bag, clothing, friends, or support staff. There is no individual support along the route itself.
-
Changing equipment: You may change your equipment between rounds (shoes on/off, clothing, food).
-
Medical rules: In case of serious problems, the runner will be removed for safety reasons.
-
Minimum age 18
